We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Paralegal or Legal Assistant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong organizational and writing skills. Preference is for some office hours but majority of work could be done remotely if preferred. This is a part-time position with flexible hours. Preference would be to hire an independent contractor but part-time employment may also be considered. Work flow may vary depending on current project needs.
Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents.
- Organize and maintain digital legal files.
- Prepare correspondence and communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
- Proofread legal documents for accuracy and completeness
- Work closely with attorney to understand and execute projects
- Perform clerical tasks such as filing, photocopying, and scanning documents
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a legal administrative or paralegal role preferred (pay negotiable depending on experience). Practice areas are real estate, estate planning, guardianship, and business law (mostly transactional, not litigation).
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Excellent proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail
- Familiarity with contract law and legal terminology
- Strong administrative skills, including phone etiquette and organization
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
