About the Position
We are seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant to join our team. A Litigation Legal Assistant will work closely with one or two attorneys and Litigation Paralegals to provide support for complex personal injury and wrongful death litigation cases.
Our attorneys and litigation teams are tenacious champions for our clients, and our firm handles catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases that often settle for hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars. The individual that fills this role must operate at a highly motivated level, and be reliable, honest, and precise. Since our clients are suffering from an injury, or mourning the loss of a loved one, demonstrable empathy and compassion is also required. You must have strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence. You will gain hands on experience in assisting in the handling of complex personal injury cases, and learn from a dedicated team.
This position is full-time, Monday – Friday from 8:300 AM to 5:00 PM, and is on-site/in-office. You will need to reliably commute to our office, located at 8765 Tallon Ln NE, Ste A, Lacey, WA 98516.
Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support our attorneys and paralegals, which includes work to support case management, legal proceedings, scheduling, calendar management, client communications, and related work
- Assist with the drafting and reviewing of court-required notices and scheduling
- Communicate with clients and witnesses to schedule meetings, interviews, and depositions
- Research regulations, laws, and legal articles to assist with the preparation of reports, case files, and legal advice; ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
- Scan, store, and organize documents on our cloud-based case management platform
- Collect, examine, and organize evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation, prepare additional documents for trials
- Assist in preliminary investigations by collating evidence and affidavits
- Draft and proofread correspondence and legal documents, such as pleadings and contracts
Qualifications:
- 3-5+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant, administrative assistant, paralegal or other legal field
- Associate's degree in paralegal studies, a paralegal certificate, or a Bachelor's degree preferred
- Familiarity with legal case organization
- Ability to follow instructions, prioritize and multitask as assigned
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a critical eye for detail
- Must be deadline and detail-oriented
- Experience preferred in scheduling depositions for multiple party participation
- Excellent judgment, discretion, and a proactive work ethic
- Must have well-developed interpersonal skills and compassion for our client base
- Experience maintaining the privacy, security, and confidentiality of all information, documents, files, and matters
- Familiarity with case management software preferred but not required (CloudLex)
