Position Summary: The Sales Representative position requires a professional, organized individual with the ability to take ownership of new projects. This role requires management of multiple projects simultaneously, accuracy in daily work, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally automotive, is a strong plus.
Qualifications (include but are not limited to):
- A record of dependability and good attendance.
- Working knowledge of reading, understanding, and interpreting customer drawings & prints is required, along with ability to read and understand various customer specifications.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
- Experience negotiating prices and resolving customer disputes.
- Strong initiative to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
- Good analytical skills; strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience prospecting for new customers through a combination of cold calls, phone contact, on-line, research, trade-shows, and face-to-face visits.
- Present yourself in a professional manner when dealing with customers and vendors.
- Available during off-shift hours as needed.
- Able to work with other Parker Trutec personnel and departments as a team to coordinate multiple tasks involving several process steps.
- Follow Parker Trutec’s travel and sales policies.
- Willingness to travel, as needed, to meet with current and potential customers. Initial work will be in the office, but this will shift to out of office sales activity as experience is developed.
Duties (include but are not limited to):
Daily:
- Serve as the primary Sales contact for select customers. Maintain pricing targets and support smooth start-up of new parts, including scheduled launch dates.
- Support overall customer base, as needed, in the area of new parts support, quotations, etc.
- Communicate requirements for existing & new customers with the applicable Plants to ensure on-time delivery.
- Work with the Quality Department to assist in resolving quality related issues and make recommendations for solutions.
- Work closely with the Engineering Department on new product testing and trials for continuous improvement of potential & existing customers.
- Be mindful of Parker Trutec’s pricing guidelines, standard lead-times, and Terms/Conditions when negotiating with new and existing customers.
- Contact selected customers in order to receive and communicate requirements & forecast to applicable Plant.
- Prepare and submit sales quotations. Work closely with Engineering to prepare quotations related to piece price, tooling costs, and tooling development.
- Follow-up on Sales quotations in a timely manner in an effort to secure new business and gather feedback on price competitiveness.
- Conduct all Sales related activities in accordance with Parker Trutec Urbana’s ISO quality guidelines.
- Work with outside vendors to support customer requirements and costs (packaging and tooling fabricators, etc.); participate at plant level when necessary for cost reduction and continuous improvement activities
- Ensure safety requirements are being met by customers during plant visits.
- 5S – Keep your desk and work area clean and organized.
- Maintain a safe, legal, and responsible work environment.
- When using a company vehicle, observe Parker Trutec’s non-smoking policy, refrain from texting, and keep vehicle clean and uncluttered, wear seat belt at all times.
Weekly:
- Participate in weekly Sales Staff meeting.
- Participate in plant meetings as necessary.
- Complete and distribute to Sales staff, your previous weeks activity.
Monthly:
- Participate in monthly Sales Staff meeting
- Participate in monthly sales reports (travel matrix, quote log, etc.) to appropriate associates
- Review and analyze monthly items related to Sales Department activity and customer status.
Quarterly:
- Participate in quarterly Sales staff meeting.
