This position leads and manages employees, subcontractors, and resource allocation for direct construction activities for the company. The employee is expected to coordinate the efforts of subcontractors and MHO employees to complete work tasks in a project-based environment. The Construction Manager’s main role is to ensure timely construction to meet and exceed customer expectations and manage timelines of specific work packages in line with the project goals.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe environment and ensure all safety standards are met.
- Oversee construction field operations with supervision and oversight of in-house crews, subcontractors, and inspection activities.
- The Construction Manager will coordinate and schedule field activities and resources to complete the scope of work.
- Must have the ability to forecast construction start and completion dates as well as identify issues that will cause delays. The candidate will report issues or challenges and propose solutions to keep projects on track.
- Directly responsible for the overall success of construction projects including meeting project schedules and budget. Strong construction management, reporting, time management and budgeting skills will be a must.
- Maintain relationships in matters associated with State and City’s permitting and inspection requirements.
- Understanding the project scope and capabilities and sourcing appropriate local vendors that meet scope requirements.
- Identify additional subcontractors/resources to support various construction projects and oversee their quality and schedule.
- Demonstrated attention to quality construction practices and ensured timely close out and delivery of the project schedule.
- Serve as an information resource by coordinating project plans, participating in meetings, resolving disputes, providing ongoing feedback, and coordinating punch lists and finalizing close-outs.
- Perform Plant Damage investigation and reporting
- Perform Pre and Post project inspections
- Ensure accurate reporting- project tracking and invoicing
- Must know how to read construction drawings and help others to understand how to build using the prints issued.
- Physical requirements include ability to work outdoors in inclement weather, extended driving and lifting and carrying of moderately heavy objects.
- Perform tasks or other duties as assigned to them by leadership.
Qualifications
- High School or associate degree
- Some College preferred.
- Previous 5 years of direct experience directing and managing Underground & Aerial construction or project builds
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
- Strong knowledge of OPS Construction Standards and Practices, and Fiber Splicing
- Strong knowledge of State, Local, and Company standards for safety
- Familiarity with permitting requirements- Work Zone Protection (WZP), and Traffic Control Plans (TCP)
- Experience in OSP communications industry with the ability to ensure high quality and safety standards.
- Must have a working knowledge of telecommunications aerial construction including make-ready requirements, strand placement, cable placement, lashing, over-lashing, guying, and other aerial telecom construction workflows.
- Strong time management and construction quality and safety experience.
- Willingness to learn new skills, software, and technologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Proficiency in MS Office Products, and Google Earth.
- Must be safe and take ownership of the safety culture.
- Valid driver’s license.
Desired But Not Required
- Bachelors in construction management or equivalent
- Strong consideration will be given to candidates who have held this position in the recent 2 years
- Direct knowledge of key estimating and financial aspects of building OSP infrastructure
- Familiarization with GIS tools
- Traffic safety certifications
- Willingness to travel: 25% (Preferred)
Work Location: In person at Houston Office and some travel to field as needed

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
