Summary
Assists provider by accurately determining and communicating the patient's current and previous medical condition. Facilitate hands on patient care in the clinic as well as assist the provider with documentation in epic. Assists in surgery and helps maintain the flow of patients through the services received.
Job Duties
- Prepares and assists with surgical procedures and assembles rooms to the specification of the surgeon.
- Assists with proper application of aseptic techniques in dressing changes and setting up surgical fields.
- Performs suture/staple removal along with wound care and dressing application.
- Documents notes for provider which includes HPI, physical exam, diagnostic review, discussion/summary, and medical/work excuse.
- Administers injections for provider and assists with injection procedure.
- Administers and removes upper and lower extremity casts including focus rigidity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training or Exercise Physiology from CAATE accredited program
- 1 year experience Orthopedic specialty, working directly in the treatment of patients.
- Ability to articulate orthopedic conditions based upon a basic knowledge of anatomical structures and their relationship with one another.
- Understanding of the theory and application of skin and skeletal traction.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks, organize workloads, manage time.
- Ability to educate patients on exercise instruction.
- BLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire and
- Certified Athletic Trainer Upon Hire and
- Ortho Tech Certification within 1 Year
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Athletic Training or Exercise Physiology from CAATE accredited program
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn in-house computer systems.
- Understanding proper use of medical and office equipment.
- PA State Athletic Training License Upon Hire
Physical Demands
Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight.
