- Charting patient records
- Tying and untying power chain etc.,
- Giving aftercare instructions
- Sanitizing work stations and other areas in the office
An assistant would also be trained in how to:
Place and remove coil springs, elastic bands and wires
- Place and remove other temporary appliances
- Taking before and after pictures
- Dental impressions for appliances and retainers
- Taking panoramic x-rays
To be successful, an orthodontic assistant should:
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills with co-workers and patients of all ages
- Be very detail-oriented
- Be able to follow directions from Dr. Springer and other staff members
