Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and assessments to diagnose vision problems and eye diseases
- Prescribe corrective lenses, medications, or other treatments as necessary
- Provide guidance and counseling to patients regarding their eye health and vision care options
- Interpret specialized tests such as visual field tests, retinal imaging, and corneal topography
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and referrals
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records of patient examinations and treatments
Skills:
- Proficient in interpreting results
- Knowledge and experience in providing senior care and addressing age-related vision issues
- Excellent patient care skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with patients of all ages
- Strong understanding of anatomy, medical terminology, and physiology related to the eyes and vision
- Proficient with optical equipment, instruments, and procedures used in optometry practice
- Experience using electronic health record systems for efficient documentation and record keeping
- Ability to interpret medical records, test results, and diagnostic reports accurately
- Strong sales skills to recommend and educate patients on eyewear options that meet their visual needs
