We are a boutique optometry practice located on Spartanburg’s east side. We specialize in pediatric and adult comprehensive and contact lens exams, optometric vision therapy, brain injury/concussion, dry eye treatment, and ocular disease management.

EXPECTED CANDIDATE QUALITIES

Prior Optometric Technician experience is required. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, coachable, and have a friendly and outgoing personality, and a desire to grow within the practice.

Candidates should have a high level of integrity, respect for his/her teammates and patients, a friendly personality with effective communication skills, be a quick learner/active problem solver and maintain an overall positive attitude.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide a warm and welcoming environment for our patients to have an exceptional eye care experience.
• Perform precise pre-testing and diagnostic procedures, including, but not limited to: lensometry, visual acuity, tonometry, retinal imaging, OCT scans, and other screenings..
• Communicate effectively as a liaison between patients and doctors for follow-up appointments, medical concerns, referrals and contact lenses.
• Review insurance benefits with patients.
• Prepare patients for examinations and treatments, obtain and record patients' chief complaints, current medications, and other screening results.
• Prepare and maintain exam rooms, pretesting areas, and all equipment
• Assist with contact lens fittings and educate patients on insertion/removal
• Become knowledgeable in areas of support for our vision therapy, optical and operations departments
• Other responsibilities as needed

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

• This is a non-management job that will report to the practice director.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• High School diploma, GED, or higher level education.

OTHER EXPECTED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

• Basic understanding of anatomy and physiology of the eye
• Effective computer skills
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality
• Accurate data entry
• Mathematical skills
• Knowledge of medical coding and terminology is highly desirable
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to speak, stand, talk, walk, see, hear (corrected or uncorrected) and to sit. The team member is occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to read print of many different sizes. The team member must frequently bend, reach above the head, as well as forward, and use fine motor skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
