Description:
The Optical Scanning Device Operator/Technician is a crucial member of the data collection team responsible for the operation, maintenance, and quality control fo Optical Scanning equipment. This role involves precision work to ensure accurate and efficient scanning of
documents, images, or objects, along with the ability to drive, transport, and set up equipment as required. The Operator/Technician must be detail-oriented, technically skilled, and able to troubleshoot and resolve equipment-related issues. The role also involves handling material samples, capturing data using OS-specific cameras, and ensuring data upload to designated servers.

Equipment Operation and Setup:
Drive to designated locations and transport scanning equipment weighing up to 40
pounds for short distances.
• Mount material samples, approximately 6" square, onto calibration targets with precision and attention to detail.
• Operate Optical Scanning equipment using a Mac and/or PC interface to capture high-quality scans of material samples.
• Utilize OS-specific cameras to capture supplementary images and documentation of material samples.
•Maintain detailed notes and labels pertaining to each material sample, ensuring
accurate and comprehensive documentation.
• Ensure proper setup and calibration of scanning equipment to maintain consistent
and accurate scan outputs.
Maintenance and Calibration:
•Perform routine maintenance tasks on the Optical Scanning equipment, including
cleaning, lubrication, and component replacement.
• Calibrate equipment regularly to ensure accurate and consistent scan outputs. •Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions or errors and take appropriate
corrective actions.
Quality Control and Data Management:
• Write detailed descriptions and annotation of each data sample,
• Inspect scanned outputs and supplementary images for clarity, accuracy, and completeness.
• Make necessary adjustments to scanning settings or equipment to ensure high-
quality results.
• Organize and catalog scanned files and supplementary images in a systematic and
easily retrievable manner.
•Transfer and upload scanned data and supplementary images to designated internal
servers.
