**This role works at 1701 Northwind Hwy., Hobart, IN 46342 HOURS are 10:30am to 6:30pm**         

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Pre-Press Technician is responsible for activities related to large format Pre-Press within the large format printing facility. They ensure all pre-press operational requirements are met. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure all pre-press scheduling, efficiency and quality requirements are met.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Products is a plus. Specifically, Adobe Illustrator as this program is used heavily to produce prints.
  • Ensure all pre-press Environmental Health and Safety requirements are met.
  • Participate in scheduling and planning meetings related to large format pre-press activities as required.
  • Provide all pre-press related reports as required by Amsive to large format operations leadership.
  • Assist in establishing and enforcing facility workflow procedures and processes related to Large Format Pre-Press.
  • Assist in non-conformance investigations, participate in problem-solving sessions to identify the root cause of a non-conformance; once identified and documented distribute report identifying suggested corrective action within department.
  • Perform daily equipment maintenance as required.
  • Perform pre-press operations in a manner that meets or exceeds estimated times on jobs while maintaining quality standards.
  • Complete departmental daily tasks including but not limited to housekeeping, communication and pre-press operations.
  • Assist in special duties and projects as required by Management.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 + years experience in a manufacturing/production/printing environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to multi-task.
  • Extensive knowledge of Large Format Printing Substrates and Large Format Printing software skills.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The Large Format Pre-Press Operator reports directly to the Large Format Pressroom Manager.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. 

  • Body Positions: Frequently required to spend extensive periods sitting with computer work and intermittent walking / standing.
  • Body Movements: The employee must have a full range of body movements including the use of hands & fingers to handle or feel objects, bending, reaching with hands and arms, and crouching.
  • Body Senses: Must have command of the following senses: sight, hearing, speech and touch.  Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, distant vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus. Must be able to distinguish minor color variations.
  • Strength: Occasionally must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position will spend most of the time working in a production area that is relatively loud with limited time in a professional office environment. This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work 10:30am to 6pm.  Travel is infrequent and primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
