Role Purpose Statement
The Operations Supervisor at LSG SkyChefs plays a vital role in the efficient and safe transportation of catering supplies to airports, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality in-flight catering services to our airline clients. This position involves supervising a team of drivers and coordinators, overseeing daily operations, and implementing strategies to enhance transportation efficiency.
Main Accountabilities
Supervision and Team Leadership:
- Lead and manage a team of transportation personnel, including drivers, dispatchers, and coordinators.
- Provide guidance, support, and training to team members to ensure adherence to safety protocols and operational excellence.
- Foster a positive work environment, encouraging teamwork and a commitment to achieving departmental goals.
Route Planning and Dispatch:
- Plan and optimize transportation routes to maximize efficiency and meet delivery schedules.
- Coordinate the timely dispatch of vehicles and drivers to various airport destinations.
- Monitor and adjust routes in real-time to accommodate changing circumstances or delays.
Asset Management:
- Ensure the proper maintenance and utilization of transportation assets, including vehicles and equipment.
- Oversee vehicle inspections and maintenance schedules to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Manage inventory of transportation supplies and equipment.
Safety and Compliance:
- Uphold strict safety standards and regulatory compliance in all transportation activities.
- Conduct regular safety training sessions for transportation team members.
- Investigate and report any accidents or incidents, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Performance Monitoring and Improvement:
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to transportation, such as on-time delivery rates and fuel efficiency.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance transportation operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and optimize supply chain integration.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of transportation activities, including driver logs, maintenance records, and delivery documentation.
Generate reports on transportation performance and present findings to management as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent knowledge required
- In addition, one to three years of related work experience required
- Problem solving and leadership skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to develop and lead others to obtain desired results & achieve productivity goals
- Working knowledge of OSHA, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), FDA, USDA and EPA regulations
- Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills required along with the ability to multi-task
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications
