Reports to: Senior Operations Manager Department: Operations
Position Summary:
The Operations Supervisor is responsible to develop and implement warehouse and transportation policies and procedures to insure the safe, efficient, and economical utilization of facilities for storing and distributing products, maintaining product integrity, and building security. Planning and identifying future areas of emphasis and ensuring all ethical and legal considerations are met.
The position of Operations Supervisor is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act and shall not be entitled to overtime compensation for hours worked more than 40 in any one work week.
The Operations Supervisor shall be accountable and supervised by the Senior Operations Manager.

- Develop policies and procedures to govern Warehouse, and Transportation:
- Ensure governmental rules and regulations related to company policies are strictly adhered to.
- Ensure that subordinates adhere to approved standard practice.
- Help develop policies and methods of product handling to ensure product integrity, minimal damage, building security and sanitation are maintained.
- Help Plan Warehouse, and Transportation strategies and activities:
- Identify future areas of emphasis for each subordinate area.
- Ensure that appropriate organization is in place to carry out the necessary activities with efficiency and timeliness.
- Help develop and control budgets for activities supervised.
- Assign or approve priorities for area responsibility.
- Evaluate new technology in Warehousing and Transportation.
- Delegate responsibility and authority while retaining overall control:
- Deal with daily situations as they arise in the various areas of responsibility.
- Approve recommended decisions or recommend alternative courses of action.
- Address employee and labor relations matters in a pro-active manner.
- Monitor the administration of the Collective Bargaining Agreements.
- Encourage supervisors to promote and use an enlightened management approach in dealing with employees.
- Provide the selection and handling of all products in a safe, efficient manner.
- Supervise Warehouse, Transportation personnel.
- Administer personnel policies and other company policies and procedures.
- Perform or oversee employee hiring, training, development, discipline, and discharge.
- Monitor exposure to legal and governmental regulations affecting the area, ensuring compliance and correction.
- Act as secondary contact with union business agent on a as need basis.
- Oversee the administration of the engineered labor standards.
- Monitor the use of the Safe Work Methods.
- Fully understand and utilize the WMS warehouse management system.
- Participate as a member of the Senior Team:
- Help Coordinate activities in responsibility with other Senior Team Members.
- Help Set overall company guidelines and priorities in conjunction with other team members and participate in review of company performance.
- Ensure a company-wide positive front is presented uniformly to all employees.
- Participate in decisions impacting on entire organization.
- Provide advice and council regarding Operations matters.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as directed by senior management or executive staff

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience in warehouse, Transportation, and maintenance as well as union contract experience, have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in progressive management roles.
