Form of workJacobs Technology provides overall management and implementation of NASA's ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing and launch
operations at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Exploration Ground Systems, Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services Programs.
Engineering discipline shall be mechanical/Thermal Protection Systems (TPS) related. Responsibilities include system analysis; developing plans,
processes, and procedures; documentation preparation for payload and spacecraft processing; and troubleshooting and resolution of mechanical/TPS systems and structures.
Responsibilities:
Perform TPS engineering in support of spacecraft and payload processing for the NASA Exploration Ground Systems (EGS) Orion Multi Purpose Crew Vehicle (MPCV), the NASA Launch Services Program (LSP) spacecraft, and the NASA International Space Station (ISS)
Payloads and Orbital Replacement Units (ORU).
Initial assignments will focus on developing an understanding of the TPS processing operations assigned to the group and a concept of
system operations. Additional responsibilities include troubleshooting non-conformances and problem resolution.
Candidate will support the Jacobs Consolidated Operations, Management, Engineering, and Test (COMET) contract in the Spaceflight
Processing Directorate as a TPS engineer in the Payload and Spacecraft Mechanical Engineering department that is responsible for assembling,
testing, processing, and supporting launch of NASA's ISS flight hardware, LSP spacecraft, and Orion MPCV.
Candidates will be required to develop and apply knowledge of technical principles for ISS and Orion MPCV processing operations
concepts, ground to vehicle interfaces, vehicle/ground system design and operation, and launch configuration and closeouts.
Additional responsibilities in spacecraft processing, procedural development, test requirements, system training, and task leader certification
will follow.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution; at least four years of experience.
Excellent communication, presentation, and customer interface skills required.
Analytical and problem solving skills.
Capable of reading/understanding technical manuals, drawings, and schematics.
Ability to plan, manage, and prioritize multiple projects.
Computer experience with Microsoft Office products, Internet browsers, and Outlook.
Experience with Microsoft Office or comparable application, publication and graphics applications is desired.
Thermal Protection System Blanket, Tile bonding, Thermal Barrier, Gap Filler, and Closeout experience is highly desired.
Essential Functions
Physical Requirements
Will be required to climb stairs in order to access equipment for trouble shooting.
Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection and other associated personal protective equipment.
Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
Physical requirements are: sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.
Work Environment
Will be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.
Position may require daily individual to travel to different areas on site.
Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility.
Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.
All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company
safety standards.

Variety of equipment used in testing.
Attendance
Full-time regular work hours between Monday-Friday.
Position may require occasional overtime including weekend work depending on task.
Must be dependable and punctual.
Shift work may be required.
Other Essential Functions
Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.
Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary.
Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
Must comply with all "drug free workplace" requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.
Government security clearance may be required in the future.
