Job description

The Service ProjectsOperations Manager is responsible for leading operations team in planning, executing, and finalizing projects for Colorado Mechanical System customers. This individual will maintain a sense of urgency, responsibility, and resourcefulness through the life of each project. Strong leadership experience in dealing with complex mechanical, plumbing, and energy related controls projects. The Specialty Projects Operations Manager will also build and nurture relationships with coworkers, external customers, and suppliers through clear, consistent, and timely communication.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with field operations to drive safety culture in all employees
  • Manage and supervise day-to-day operations of Business Unit/Operation Group Managers and their Teams as needed
  • Build, nurture, and mentor Project Managers, Project Engineers, and field personnel
  • Uphold current policies and procedures across teams
  • Constant development of process improvement measures to ensure gained operational success and efficiencies
  • Monitor, forecast, and identify operational capacities such as: manager workloads, manpower projections, etc… to work hand-in-hand with Director of Service, New Install Operations Managers, recruiters, and staff to ensure business unit is moving forwards at all times
  • Assist with Sales needs associated with reviewing high risk projects
  • Assist with submittal reviews for design-build jobs for Sales as needed
  • Assist Pre-Con/Sales with energy efficiency comparisons and total cost of operations analysis as needed for design-build and/or alternate equipment selections
  • Accountable for every project once turned over from Pre-Con/Sales all the way to close of warranty
  • Sense of urgency in assigning work to a management team and driving critical internal and schedule milestones on projects
  • Guide and support project teams through the entire phase of every project
  • Conduct Pre-CTC meetings with teams and take responsibility for ensuring all budgets are held accountable to, issues are identified, and plans are in place to mitigate losses
  • On-board and train new hires
  • Coordinate work and communications between departments, other Operations Managers, Service Managers, Construction Manager as necessary
  • Conduct performance reviews of staff, and employee warnings, counseling, and terminations as required
  • Work with HR and recruiter for hiring needs and conduct interview and final hiring decisions
  • Maintain and improve owner, general contractor, engineer and vendor relations
  • Negotiates critical and controversial issues with top-level employees and officers
  • Plays a role in company business strategy development and execution
  • Makes authoritative decisions and recommendations having significant impact on extensive and related activities of the company
  • Demonstrates a high degree of creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in planning, organizing and guiding extensive programs and activities of importance
  • Manages autonomous individuals, managers and diverse groups giving broader direction

Qualifications:

  • Expert in field, extensive relevant experience.
  • University graduate or equivalent combination of skills and experience generally required
  • Full understanding of navigating complex issues on commercial plumbing, mechanical, and energy related controls projects
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills
  • Ability to manage and develop team members
  • Strong organization skills
  • Strong communication skills (Oral and written)
  • Experience managing a team
  • 8+ years of commercial mechanical and energy related controls project management
  • Experience driving projects from preplanning stages through completion. Ability to teach those skills to others on team.
  • Strong computer knowledge (Strong in Excel and other MS Office software)

Physical Requirements

  • Position is mixed between stationary and on feet. 75% of work is stationary and 25% would be on foot. Walking jobs doing QA/QC, climbing ladders when necessary.
  • Bending, twisting, stooping, crouching, climbing ladders, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 25 lbs.

Pay/Benefits:

Salary: $120,000-$160,000 depending on skill and experience in a similar role.
