Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Operations Director to oversee various administrative functions within our K-12 school district in Mississippi under the supervision of the Superintendent. The ideal candidate will possess a 486 certification as a school administrator and a proven track record in administration, particularly within educational settings. The Operations Director will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of essential departments within the district, including transportation, maintenance, custodial services, security, and food and nutrition. This position requires a keen attention to detail, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to maintaining compliance with Mississippi Department of Education standards and accreditation requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervision and Management: Provide leadership and direction to the transportation department, maintenance team, custodial staff, security department, and food and nutrition operations.
2. Compliance and Accreditation: Ensure that all departments under supervision meet the compliance and accreditation standards set forth by the Mississippi Department of Education.
3. Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans for efficient and effective operation of all departments, aligned with the district's goals and objectives.
4. Budget Management: Oversee budgetary matters related to operations, including resource allocation, procurement, and cost-saving initiatives.
5. Staff Development: Mentor and support departmental staff, providing opportunities for professional growth and training as necessary.
6. Safety and Security: Maintain a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors by implementing and enforcing appropriate safety protocols and procedures.
7. Communication: Foster open communication channels between departments, school administration, and other stakeholders to ensure cohesive operations and problem-solving.
8. Vendor and Contractor Management: Coordinate with external vendors and contractors to ensure timely and quality services, adhering to contractual agreements and budgetary constraints.
9. Emergency Response: Develop and implement emergency response plans and protocols, ensuring preparedness for various scenarios, including natural disasters and other emergencies.
10. Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement within operational processes and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and overall service delivery.
Qualifications:
- Possession of a 486 certification as a school administrator in Mississippi.
- Master's degree in Education Administration, Business Management, or related field or higher
- Proven experience in educational administration, with a focus on operations management.
- Strong knowledge of Mississippi Department of Education regulations, compliance standards, and accreditation requirements.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders, including staff, administrators, parents, and community members.
