POSITION: O&M Service Technician (Level 2)
Company Summary:
Energy Support Services is a distributed generation commercial and industrial solar firm that operates, maintains, and monitors projects that ranging in size from 50 kW – 10 MW. These assets are a blend of system design (ground mount, rooftop, carports, etc.) and geographic diversity. As a fully owned subsidiary of New Energy Equity (an end-to-end solar project development and management group), ESS oversees both self-developed and third-party opportunities throughout the country. ESS is seeking an O&M Service Technician (Level 2) to help us expand and grow our capabilities as an industry leading O&M Service company.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform visual, mechanical, electrical inspection, maintenance and testing of a variety of commercial and industrial solar systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, communication issues, and develop corrective action
- Operate in 600Vac, 1500Vdc situations without direct
- Provide timely electronic reports of field services provided and proactive feedback to entire ESS
- Record and report all faults, deficiencies, and other nonconformances on Document time, material and travel expenses for the completion of daily responsibilities.
- Communicate effectively with internal team, third-party vendors, and actively participate in team meetings.
- Note general field conditions on site, including vegetation management issues, security risks, and debris impacts.
- Able to travel on short notice and be available during non-traditional working
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Degree or technical certification in related electrical
- NABCEP certified PV Installer Specialist or PV Commissioning & Maintenance Specialist highly
- Two (2) to Four (4) years of demonstrated experience operating and maintaining power
- Experience with power generation systems, solar technologies
- Valid driver’s
- OSHA 10-Hour certification required, OSHA 30-Hour, strongly
SKILLS:
- Ability to work independently and ask for guidance when
- Experienced working with electrical systems and solar
- Comfortable operating in low voltage and non-hazardous situations without direct
- Able to safely identify and mitigate hazardous
- Knowledge of I/V curve tracing software and thermographic
- Proficient troubleshooting with Isolation Diagnostics Equipment (i.e. Megger or Isolation testers)
- Ability to interpret and comprehend PV System As-built drawings and electrical single
- Strong written/verbal communication
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat, and
- Have a strong attention to
- Be a self-starter with strong time management
- Knowledge of Data Acquisition
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Be able to drive a vehicle confidently and with a high degree of
- Be able to stand for long periods of time and walk distances up to three miles a
- Be able to navigate ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps while maintaining 3 points of
- Have the visual acuity for depth perception, no field of vision issues, and to distinguish between
- Be comfortable working in a variety of climate conditions which may include but are not limited to, extreme heat (temperatures above 100°F) or extreme cold (temperatures below 32°F) for periods of more than one hour.
- Be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
