Job description

Tacoma Water is seeking an Operational Technology Services Manager to join our team! This position is responsible for strategically guiding Tacoma Water's Operational Technology programs, aligning them with the overall business strategy. This includes collaborating with internal technology service providers to coordinate strategies, projects, and ongoing activities.
The Operational Technology Services Manager serves as Tacoma Water's primary governance representative, collaborating with city-wide technology leadership, ensuring seamless integration and effective service level management with technology service providers. This role also oversees the alignment of internal applications and infrastructure with Tacoma Water's technology strategy.
This position will manage a group of 12 FTEs and additional contract resources responsible for Tacoma Water's ESRI Geospatial Services and Enterprise Infrastructure and Technology such as application administration, application development, and solution architecture. Tacoma Water owns several technology applications which this position will be responsible for, including our ESRI geospatial ecosystem and ArcGIS Online, Economic Modeling tools, Hydraulic Models, SCADA systems, Yield/Supply Modeling platforms, custom tablet applications for Water field crews, and a collection of databases and on premise server infrastructure.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Own, develop, manage, and align Tacoma Water's technology strategy with business strategy
  • Develop, coordinate and communicate organizational development activities, both internally and externally, to continuously improve the Operational Technology group's ability to meet the technology needs of Tacoma Water
  • Conduct regular cadence or reviews with Water's leadership team to ensure visibility into key technology events and work efforts
  • Represent Tacoma Water on key City-wide and TPU-wide technology governance boards
  • Actively manage solutions architecture and technology capability roadmaps to ensure alignment and support of Tacoma Water's overarching technology strategy
  • Ensure technology standards and best practices are established
  • Define standards for systems, equipment, and software
  • Develop and implement disaster and emergency recovery plans
  • Share technology visions, opportunities, and risks company-wide
  • Manage team of 12 FTEs across the domains of Application Administration, Application Development, and Solution Architecture
  • Study current and new industry trends, technologies, and software development
Minimum Education*
Bachelor's degree in information technology or directly related field
Minimum Experience*
6 years of progressively responsible information technology and project management experience in the area of assignment including 1 year as a technology supervisor or manager.
Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements
Some assignments may require a Washington State Driver's License
*Equivalency: 1 year of experience = 1 year of education
