Position Title: Circulating Operating RoomRegistered Nurse
Position Hours: Monday -Friday, No Holidays, No Call, possible for a rare weekend availability (will have advanced warning if needed) Full time is considered 30+ hours per week, may have varying days off during the week.
Position Responsibilities- The general nursing responsibilities of OR Nurse include (but are not limited to):
1. Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
2. Serves as the communication liaison to family and members of the operating team.
3. Ensures that operating on correct patient and the correct procedure is being performed.
4. Provides basic bedside care.
5. Prepares and administers (orally, subcutaneously, through an IV) and records prescribed medications.
6. Communicates relevant information to physicians, facility manager and appropriate staff.
7. Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed Registered Nurse.
8. Responds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol.
9. Records all care information concisely, accurately, and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.
10. Preps Operating Room for patient/procedure.
11. Initiates corrective action whenever information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology.
12. Monitors patients’ physical and emotional well-being throughout the continuum of patient care.
13. Initiates patient education plan, as prescribed by physician.
14. Teaches patients and significant others how to manage their post-treatment home care needs, self-administration of medication and rehabilitation.
15. Assists in positioning, responding to comfort/safety of patient.
16. Provides accurate care and handling of specimens.
17. Observes and enforces strict standards of asepsis.
18. Observes, checks, and monitors all equipment used during surgery to confirm they are running smoothly.
19. Inventories all items both pre- and post-surgery
20. Scrub Nurse, with the following additional duties as applicable:
21. Selects and handles instruments and supplies used for the operation, passing them to surgeon.
22. Inventories all items both pre- and post-surgery.
23. Performs other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting.
Other Responsibilities
Maintains accurate records of controlled substances.
Follows facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures while on assignment.
Respects cultural and religious practices of patients.
Upholds HIPAA regulations.
Punctual and dependent for assigned/confirmed shifts.
Adheres to all facility policies and procedures.
Maintains dress and appearance according to standards as observed by management.
Demonstrates the safe operation of equipment and machinery and follows procedures for reporting and correcting an unsafe situation.
Follows established facility policies and procedures with regard to attendance.
Performs all other duties as assigned by management.
Physical Demands
Good visual acuity, accurate color vision
Ability to lift/transfer patients with assistance in excess of 100 pounds, which may require pushing, pulling and essentially utilizing a full range of body movement.
Ability to stand for extended periods

WORKING CONDITIONS AND EXPOSURE TO HAZARDS
Working environment is within the facility, and includes patients’ rooms, procedures/surgical suites, clinical support rooms, and common areas. Potential exposure to communicable diseases, contaminated body fluid, blood, biohazard materials, cleaning agents, needle sticks, and radiological exposure. Potential risk for physical injury due to moving patient, machinery and supplies. Extended time wearing lead apron.

Pay: $38.00 - $44.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 30 per week
