ABOUT THE BANDIER PROGRAM:
Founded nearly 20 years ago at Syracuse University, the Bandier Program rapidly gained both national and international recognition as one of the top music business programs in the country; we are one of a small number of such programs named to Billboard's annual Top Music Business Schools list each year the list has been published. In 2017, the renowned S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications became the home for this multidisciplinary program. A new director was hired, and a new curriculum created, building on existing excellence to develop an even deeper understanding of rights and royalties, media content and creation, and the industry's integration of data and emerging technologies. The Program has expanded its focus on learning through hands-on, industry-facing experience. Required courses are also taught in the School of Visual and Performing Arts, and the Whitman School of Management.
The Bandier Program is highly selective, admitting 30 students each year. Majors also study abroad and participate in semester-long industry immersions in our New York and Los Angeles professional study centers. Students in the program routinely earn recognition with both leadership roles and entrepreneurial projects that often extend beyond the boundaries of the Syracuse university campus.
Alumni have established successful careers in major markets (mainly New York and Los Angeles) as record label executives; music publishers; artist managers; touring agents and promoters; attorneys; and artists. They are found in numerous leadership positions and often return to campus to share their knowledge.
