Job Description:
Binghamton University's Division of Occupational Therapy, located at the newly renovated, state-of-the art health sciences campus in Johnson City, New York, is conducting a cluster hire for its developing entry-level Occupational Therapy doctoral (OTD) program and invites applicants for full-time, campus-based, 10-month faculty appointments. The position encompasses teaching, innovation, and clinically-driven scholarship.
Responsibilities include participating in ongoing curriculum development, implementation, and assessment for the developing entry-level doctoral program. Close collaboration with other faculty within the Division and with faculty in related departments is expected. Candidates are expected to have or to be developing a clinical scholarship or innovation agenda. The candidates should minimally have three years of experience in Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention with a strong clinical background in one or more of the following areas of practice: adult and older adult physical disabilities and chronic conditions; adult and older adult mental health; infant, child, and adolescent physical disabilities and chronic conditions; infant, child, and adolescent mental health; developmental, learning, and intellectual disabilities; foundations of Occupational Therapy and occupational science; functional anatomy and neuroanatomy; functional kinesiology; assistive technologies and environmental modification; population/community health, wellness and prevention; health care systems and delivery models of practice.
The candidate will be assigned courses based on area of expertise, contribute to advising and mentoring students, and engage in Program and University committees as appropriate.
Faculty rank and salary are dependent upon the successful candidate's experience and qualifications.
Additional Information:
The Division is seeking Candidacy status with ACOTE for the OTD Entry-Level Professional Program and has a targeted start date of Fall 2023. Specific start dates for successful candidates are negotiable and based upon assigned course load.

Requirements:
Qualifications:
  • Ideal candidates must possess an academic doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, EdD, ScD, OTD).
  • Candidates who are occupational therapists must be eligible for a New York State Occupational Therapy license.
  • Candidates must demonstrate contemporary expertise in any one or more of the following content areas: older adult physical disabilities and chronic conditions; adult and older adult mental health; infant, child, and adolescent physical disabilities and chronic conditions; infant, child, and adolescent mental health; developmental, learning, and intellectual disabilities; foundations of Occupational Therapy and occupational science; functional anatomy and neuroanatomy; functional kinesiology; assistive technologies and environmental modifications; population/community health, wellness and prevention; health care systems and delivery models of practice.
  • Candidates are expected to have or to be developing a clinical scholarship or innovation agenda.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Teaching experience, especially in an accredited graduate-level Occupational Therapy program, is preferred.
  • Candidates with interest/experience in outcomes assessment are encouraged to apply.
  • Candidates with an interest in innovative instructional approaches, which can include active learning, problem-based approaches, case-based approaches, and simulation are encouraged to apply.
  • Candidates with an interest in interprofessional education and mentorship are encouraged to apply.
  • Candidates with an interest in scholarship of teaching and learning are encouraged to apply.
