Open Laboratory Technician
Overview:To assist with the supervision, installation, and maintenance of all college laboratory equipment. Assume responsibility for the safety of all laboratory facilities and equipment during scheduled open lab hours. Maintain records of equipment use, repair and inventory of all college laboratories.
Responsibilities and Duties- Assume responsibility for the supervision of laboratories during open lab hours to assure that they are properly used within compliance of procedures/standards set by the College.
- Assume responsibility for the maintenance of all computer equipment in the college open laboratories.
- Assess technical requirements for making corrections or changes to existing Open Laboratory equipment.
- Maintain inventory of all laboratory equipment purchases per fiscal year.
- Supervise, evaluate, interview, and hire coops and student workers that aid technicians in monitoring of open computer laboratories.
- Initiate purchase orders for laboratory supplies and replenish parts as needed.
- Research and make recommendations to faculty and administration regarding laboratory equipment and software.
- Maintain records of lab items checked out by students. Apply proper fines/holds until materials are returned.
- Assist the students with open lab software applications when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

SpecificationsEducation
Associate's degree in computer science related field, A+ certification required and MOUS Certification preferred.
Experience
- Working knowledge required of personal computers, software and peripherals.
- Working knowledge of different operating systems, specifically Microsoft.
- Applicant should posses two years on the job experience with various hardware configurations and software applications in a network environment preferred.
Special Skills or Conditions
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
- Must possess excellent customer service skills.
- Problem troubleshooting ability is a must.
- Ability to relate to students/users on a non-technical level.
Desirable Personal Characteristics
- Ability to listen, and to get along with people, dependability, professionalism, patience and willingness to exercise initiative.

Pay Grade: SEIU Grade level 16 pay - $16.94/hr.
