Operations & Planning Compliance Engineer/Analyst - Experienced
Texas Reliability Entity, Inc. (Texas RE) is hiring! We are seeking an experienced Operations & Planning (O&P) Compliance Engineer/Analyst to join our Compliance Team to prepare and perform audits to ensure compliance with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) reliability standards.

The considered candidate will be required to reside in the Austin-metro area or be able to reliably commute to the office within a reasonable amount of time.
The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field of study or six years applicable experience
- Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience, in additional to degree/experience requirements above
- Knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards
- Knowledge of grid planning or operations (e.g. transmission, generation, distribution) with an emphasis on reliability and/or security
- Ability to develop and deliver quality accurate, concise reports and presentations
- Strong Interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Initiative and intellectual curiosity
- Excellent team skills
Summary of Responsibilities
The Compliance Engineer/Analyst performs high-level NERC Reliability Standard compliance engagements and other compliance program activities. The position is expected to develop or have expertise in the areas of the electrical power industry, professional auditing, and risk-based compliance processes.
The Compliance Engineer/Analyst prepares and performs engagements (e.g. audits) to evaluate NERC registered entities for compliance with the NERC Reliability Standards. This position has significant contact with personnel who manage, operate, plan, and oversee generation, transmission, distribution, and physical/cyber security. The Compliance Engineer/Analyst ensures information obtained is consistent and accurate for preparing documentation and reports for the engaged NERC registered entity, NERC, FERC, Texas RE management and the Texas RE Board, as directed.
The Compliance Engineer/Analyst works independently and in a collaborative team environment while reporting to the Manager, O&P Compliance Monitoring.
The Compliance Engineer/Analyst is also responsible for assisting with and/or leading efforts to compose guidance, respond to registered entity questions, and provide outreach and training.
Job Duties
- Plans, supports, and conducts compliance engagements of NERC registered entities.
- Evaluates registered entity internal controls and provides feedback to the registered entities and internal groups on mitigation of identified risks through the developed controls.
- Develops accurate, concise reports and presentations, as directed, on engagements, activities, findings and needs of the program for Texas RE, registered entities (where applicable) and NERC.
- Collaborates with NERC and other Regional Entities through participation in NERC working groups/task forces as assigned.
- Communicates expectations and best practices to NERC registered entities through presentations and written communication.
- Reviews changes to NERC Reliability Standards, Compliance Guidance, policies, and related material for impact on the risk-based compliance program.
- Develops project requests and interfaces with other groups to implement and track progress on projects needed by the department.
- Works independently, productively and follows through on all responsibilities to bring projects to a successful conclusion.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Ability to travel up to 30%.

- Engineering/Operations: PE, NCSO, ERCOT System Operator
- Audit: CIA, CQA, CGAP, CCSA, CISA

Employees work a hybrid work scheduled consisting of at least two days in the office with the option of working three days remotely. Additional in-office work may be required depending on project scopes. Additionally, Texas RE will match 75%, up to 6%, of employee contributions, with vesting at 20% per year and full vesting at five (5) years of employment.
