Job Description: Looking Onsite Smart Hands Network Technician that has facilities experience in data center environments. Must understand rack/elevation drawings, ability to rack/stack Cisco Spine and Leaf switches, Work with remote lead engineer in deploying layer one port enumeration between device components and troubleshoot any layer one issues during installation and configuration phase of deployment.
Skills:
· Be able to connect and navigate switching console and provide remote console access
· translate installation guide requirements to site planning preparation checklist
· Be able to navigate and comprehend port enumeration excel spreadsheet to hardware component(s) connectivity
· understand physical medium connection such as cable type & transceiver types (Fiber MMF/SMF, SFP, Twinax, e.g.) and troubleshoot faulty transceivers/cabling
· Ability to run through Bill of Materials and cross verify layer one components have been received
· Port Connectivity and layer one troubleshooting
· Understand airflow considerations is front to back to determine rack/stack placement and execution
· Work with customer to RMA any components deemed defective during troubleshooting and staging phases
· Update Layer 1 and Rack Elevations Visio drawings
Requirements: Has necessary toolsets for setup install and working laptop
o Number 1 and number 2 Phillips-head screwdrivers with torque-measuring capabilities
o Flat-head screw
o Power drill
Nice to have:
· Prior Cisco Nexus spine and leaf rack/stack and layer one connectivity experience
· Patch Panel troubleshooting to determine faulty cable or faulty structured cabling/Patch panel/device connectivity
· DC Facility experience
