Position Summary
This position is charged with providing effective advising, registration, customer service, and help desk support services to ensure student success for online and graduate students. The Online Advisor will manage a case load of students and work proactively to execute the strategies necessary for increased retention and student persistence. The advisor will collaborate with staff and faculty to improve and impact the student experience and provide timely, effective student support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Advise students of their academic progress.
- Refer students to appropriate support services as needed (i.e., chaplain, library, career services, IT support, tutoring, etc.)
- Guide students in the development and revision of an educational plan that supports their personal and professional goals.
- Complete initial student schedules and registrations.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of requirements and details for assigned majors and programs.
- Monitor and act on retention alerts and at-risk assessment tools.
- Create an academic improvement plan for at-risk students.
- Complete registration changes as needed.
- Assist in the collection and reporting of program retention, persistence, and completion rates.
- Other projects as assigned.

- Demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability and experience to effectively utilize the required technology tools.
- Possess a successful work history, supported by references.
- Demonstrate the ability to practice confidentiality with sensitive information.

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- 12-month, 40-hour workweek
