Senior Compliance Specialist
The Senior Compliance Specialist is a full-time professional position that assists with the day-to-day duties of NCAA legislative bylaws, responding to interpretive inquiries, preparing and submitting waiver requests and investigating and filing Level III violations for assigned sports and/or administrative units.
70% Assist with essential daily NCAA Compliance tasks within assigned NCAA legislative bylaws (Bylaw 12: Amateurism, Bylaw 16: Awards, Benefits and Expenses, and Bylaw 17: Playing and Practice Seasons) Bylaw 12 responsibilities include but are not limited to: amateurism certification of prospective student-athletes in unique and complex situations, assist with assigning and verifying beginning of year paperwork of student-athletes, verify expenses provided to student-athletes through an outside entity, maintain records of student-athlete employment and fee for lessons, maintain student-athlete promotional activities records, verify prize money earned by student-athletes for participation in outside competition; Bylaw 16 responsibilities include but are not limited to: approve occasional meal/team entertainment requests and documents, facilitate student-athlete complimentary admissions, approve student-athlete awards and documents, approve student-athlete meals and per diem for competition related purposes, approve team travel requisitions, approve student-athlete vacation period expenses; provide rules education; respond to interpretative inquiries, prepare and submit waiver requests and investigate and file Level III violations for assigned sports and/or administrative areas; and other duties as assigned; Bylaw 17 responsibilities include but are not limited to time management plans (TMP), monitor CARA and schedule changes.
20% Work with NCAA databases, Teamworks, ARMS, and internal resources to monitor rosters; assist with initial eligibility and transfers. Stay informed with NCAA and SEC regulations, interpretation, and pending legislation; Assist with rules education and monitoring; Assist with development of Compliance policies and procedures.
5% Assist with oversight of Compliance Interns and assign duties, as appropriate.
5% Travel with sport teams as assigned; work extended days and weekends as assigned; attend SEC and NCAA conferences as assigned; attend professional development opportunities as assigned and other duties as needed. Advance and support LSU and the Athletics Department diversity and inclusion initiatives through personal participation in educational and developmental opportunities, as well as participation in the creation of an inclusive culture consistent with the values of LSU and its Athletics Department; other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with one year of related experience (internship and graduate assistant experience will be considered); Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations; Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Juris Doctorate degree; Two years related experience (internship and graduate assistant experience will be considered); Experience as a student-athlete.
Special or Physical Qualifications:
Ability to work extended days and weekends; Occasional travel.
Assistant Director of Compliance
The Assistant Director of Compliance is a full-time professional position that is responsible for the day-to-day duties of assigned NCAA legislative bylaws. The Assistant Director of Compliance will serve as the main contact for assigned sports and/or administrative units and will respond to interpretive inquiries, prepare and submit waiver requests and investigate and file Level III violations for assigned sports and/or administrative units.
