The Detroit Land Bank Authority works directly with individual buyers, as well as Community Partner organizations and developers for projects big and small.

The Project Manager I is responsible for facilitating and chronicling investigative activities on the Detroit Land Bank Authority’s (DLBA) inventory of occupied or likely occupied residential properties and safeguarding the organization’s outreach and engagement efforts, ensuring occupied activities are conducted, completed, and documented according to the policies and procedures of the organization. The position will work closely with the Assistant Director of Housing Strategy and the Occupied Program Mangers to identify DLBA vacant structures, to support the home sales pipeline, and increase engagement to afford occupants an opportunity to participate in DLBA occupied disposition programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate and initiate property investigations and inspections in response to inquiry reports of suspected occupancy or illegal activity
- Assist with the coordination of DLBA staff and third-party vendors for the facilitation of property inspections and review to confirm vacancy.
- Draft posters and notices to be posted on DLBA properties.
- Support and document communication efforts between the DLBA and occupants.
- Support the proper pipeline assignment of properties in occupied designations.
- Assist with the review and evaluation of occupied and suspected occupied inspection and investigation results and determine and implement next steps to promote neighborhood stabilization and mitigation of blight and increase homeownership opportunities.
- Support the coordination with other structure sales teams (marketing, real estate, community partners) to ensure vacant residential properties are being listed through the most appropriate program.
- Assist with the coordination between DLBA departments and the City of Detroit staff to determine the best route for occupied and potentially occupied properties.
- Prepare internal and external reports and dashboards pertaining to project and inquiry statuses.
- Prepare and interpret goals and objectives to resolve problems, make recommendations for changes in instructions and/or guidelines, and ensure the adequacy of work.
- Assist department leadership with other special projects as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by department leadership
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, project management, community development, urban planning, or real estate or related field
- At least one (1) years’ experience in administrative positions
- Real Estate background, and familiarity with Detroit neighborhoods and markets
- Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and work under tight deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with a sound grasp of English grammar and composition
- Ability to understand and carry out the terms and conditions of contractual agreements
- Ability to maintain records and prepare reports and correspondence related to the work
- A self-starter with the ability to handle multiple projects at any given time
- Proficient in MS Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)
- Possession of valid Michigan driver’s license
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand or sit with occasional lifting of materials up to 25 lbs. The employee is required to use hands to input, view and retrieve data from computers. The employee is required to do a great deal of local traveling to properties within the city of Detroit (10%); throughout the year.
