Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, requires clinic work with scheduled hours between 7am-7pm.
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for providing nutrition counseling and education, promoting breastfeeding, performing WIC certifications, prescribing food packages; and Issuing EBT benefits for WIC participants.
JOB FUNCTION:
- Provides appropriate individual and group nutrition counseling in accordance with WIC guidelines
- Assists participants in determining nutrition goals to achieve before their next visit
- Documents participant notes in WIC MIS (IWIC) to ensure continuity of care as outlined in WIC policy
- Performs anthropometric and lab procedures according to WIC guidelines and records findings
- Assigns risk factors and WIC food packages accordingly
- Prepares lesson plans and provides innovative nutrition education
- Plans and provides nutrition literature to reinforce education provided
- Follows WIC procedures in providing medically prescribed formulas
- Willingness to work at any WIC locations within the county
- Performs other related duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics or
- an Illinois Registered Nurse or Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics with 20 hours emphasis in Nutrition.
- Safe driving record with valid and current Illinois driver's license.
All Health Department staff are required to be up to date on the COVID vaccination series as determined by the CDC, including all primary series doses and boosters, as a term and condition of employment with the Department. In addition, proof of all vaccines are mandatory for employment with the Health Dept., including the flu vaccine.
