UI Health is seeking an Outpatient Dietitian Nutritionist to join our Clinical Nutrition team. The outpatient registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD) performs clinical assessment of each patient; designs nutrition care plan and intervention; develops meal plans for patients; establishes nutritional goals; counsels patients/families. This RD monitors and evaluates progress, and makes adjustments as indicated. This RD will work closely with a partner dietitian in the clinic setting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Counseling and educational training for individual and group setting
- Ability to troubleshoot problems associated with special needs, such as seniors, families, low-income patients, clinical conditions, and associated co-morbidities.
- Designs nutrition care plan and intervention
- Develops meal plans for patients
- Establishes nutritional goals; counsels patients/families
- Monitors and evaluates progress and makes adjustments as indicated
- Assess patients' nutritional status and develop/implement appropriate nutrition care plan, nutrition interventions; document findings and recommendations
- Reassess patient for changes in nutritional needs, document nutritional plan of care and monitor progress.
- Educate parent/caregiver to all aspects of MNT including but not exclusive of diet therapy.
- Collaborate with patient care team to ensure optimal patient care
- Train new staff and dietetic interns; accept responsibility for coaching, teaching, and mentoring to help meet clinical competency requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
- Possession of current Registered Dietitian licensure from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations and credentials and registration from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Weight management experience
- Ability to work independently, as well as with other health care professionals.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent customer service skills.
- Knowledge of multicultural menu planning, recipes and nutrient composition of foods.
- Strong written, verbal, and communication skills; Spanish speaking a bonus
