Pay Range: CH 11 $20.79 - $23.14
Work Year: 260 Days / 8 Hours (Year- Round)

SUMMARY: Operating under the general direction of the Nutrition Services (NS) District Manager this position is responsible for receiving, stocking, maintaining inventory, and distributing of supplies, paper products, frozen, fresh, and canned foods and all other manner of purchased goods for all school district sites. Warehouse staff work in a team setting to support the District Manager in maintaining inventory controls & material analysis and in adhering to all federal, state, and district policies and requirements including the warehouse weekly best practice checklist. This position is often a front-line point-of-contact for district staff regarding Nutrition Services and as such, must work cooperatively and use customer service skills to facilitate these interactions.
Job Responsibility Descriptions
1. Performs a variety of daily inventory and warehouse operations for the Nutrition Services Department (NS). This position receives and stocks the daily deliveries of foods and other NS products. Duties include verifying incoming orders against purchase orders and processing returns, if necessary. This position supports department and district goals in helping ensure compliance with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and best practices for storage and inventory controls. This position is often a point of contact for vendors, suppliers, and kitchen staff employees and must work cooperatively to communicate and refer these interactions to the appropriate NS staff in a timely manner.
2. Participates in the daily delivery activities of the NS warehouse ensuring the District's delivery time guidelines and standards are met. District's delivery system is reciprocal to include pick-ups returning to the warehouse, food product deliveries including fresh and frozen produce, kitchen equipment, paper and disposable products as well as cleaning chemicals. Employee is responsible for using only approved loading and unloading techniques according to federal, state, and District health & safety guidelines. Delivery duties also include but are not restricted to using the district's approved check-in and check-out system, assisting kitchen staff with the First-In First-Out (FIFO) rotation of stock at school sites as well as maintaining proper receipt and approval of delivery processes.
3.Follows the District's guiding principles and standards for all inventory stocking activities. Standards include using FIFO and the one-pass pick system as well as any other approved operating standards. This position works with the Nutrition Services District Manager and Accountant to establish and continually improve all inventory controls, audits, and other processes. Responsible for appropriately labeling all warehouse inventory with D51 internal stock number, dating information and quantity per pallet. Duties under this responsibility also include assisting the Warehouse Lead in conducting mid and year-end fiscal inventory according to District standards and procedures.
4. Maintains, cleans and organizes all NS warehouses, loading dock and exterior of warehouse as well as NS warehouse vehicles and equipment according to established schedules and operating standards. Warehouse equipment may include but is not limited to trucks, trailers, forklifts, pallet jacks and hand trucks. This position also support the Lunch Lizard mobile food trucks through regular inspections, maintenance, and general operating up keep.
5. Picks-up, transports, and disposes of kitchen equipment and/or other supplies as directed. This position may conduct or assist with regular department vehicle maintenance and repairs.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent required (Acceptable equivalent will be at the sole discretion of the District)
- Operating knowledge of inventory ordering system within 90 days of hire
- Prior inventory logistics and/or warehouse experience preferred
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:
- Criminal background check required for hire
- Valid Colorado driver's license
- Commercial driver's license (Class B), with airbrake endorsement preferred or ability to obtain within 180 days of hire
- Must successfully pass 50# lifting test upon hire (recertification every three years)
- Mesa County Food Handlers Card required within 60 days of hire
- Forklift certification preferred at hire or required within 30 days of hire
- Attend and successfully complete all professional development training as required by USDA, law, or as directed by the Director of Nutrition Services
TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
- Exceptional oral communication skills in English
- Well-developed customer service and interpersonal relationship building skills
- Well-developed written communication skills in English
- Oral bi-lingual skills English/Spanish are desirable
- Basic math and bookkeeping skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job

- Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator
MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE:
- Operating knowledge of and experience with institutional food service equipment; ovens, warmers, commercial dishwashers, mixers, steamers, kettles, meat slicers, food processors, sectionizers, and immersion blenders etc.
- Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals
- Operating knowledge of and experience with office software such as email, word processing and spreadsheets
- Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as telephone, copier, fax machine, etc.
- Operating knowledge of and licenses for forklift and commercial vehicles preferred at hire
