Job description

One (1) Position Available Nutrition Services TechnicianLocation: Nutrition Services OfficeSchedule: 6:00am - 2:30pm, Monday - FridayWork Year: 260 paid days per year JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Director of Nutrition Services or designee, support and assist in all activities pertaining to the Nutrition programs according to county, state and federal regulations. Works cooperatively with personnel in Nutrition Services, related departments and the public. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Review deposits and reconciliation of all schools daily sales reports.

Reconciles cash and account balances (e.g., cash receipts, school accounts, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining accurate account balances and complying with related policies, practices and/or regulationProcesses, maintains, updates meal applications (i.e., income verification forms), reports and software programs for the purpose of meeting deadlines and complying with district, state and federal guidelines. Conducts the mandatory verification processes. Act as a resource person, disseminating information to parents concerning student meal account/negative debt/application/refunds/program, and to school personnel concerning Nutrition Service programs and accounts.Communicate/update/respond to questions on applications and computer information (CNIPS) to the staff, public, state officials, outside agencies and other school districts.Review daily and monthly sales reports for the preparing of the cash deposit report to transfer monies from the cafeteria cash account to the cafeteria county treasury account.Work with accounting to provide for invoicing backup for catering and food services agreements.Enter vendor invoices and route for approval in district software.Process requisitions in a timely manner.

Informs and assists director, other personnel or vendors regarding required documentation and /or procedures for the purpose of conveying information necessary to complete transactions.Track, research and call in warranties and repairs (e.g., trucks, equipment, etc.).Orders and assists sites with inventories and supplies.Update vendor profiles as needed.Coordinates year start and close by monitoring and assigning change fund, department keys, etc. for all sites.Compiles and prepares Nutrition Services field contracts following district policy and procedures.Tracks department food handler cards and site health inspections to ensure all are currentUpdates, prepares various documents (e.g., handbooks, flyers, various calendars, student id cards, applications, marketing signs, laminated menus, banners, etc.) utilizing equipment or software and disseminates information to the appropriate partiesGenerate data, input and reviews required documents, for CACFP claim, in preparation of local, state and federal reports.Inputting and exporting files and reports in various software systems.Prepares documentation (e.g., invoices, parent refunds, correspondence, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support to sites and departments, conveying information and/or complying with fiscal requirements.Troubleshoot basic hardware and software problems for operation of the Nutrition Services program. Provide support and training to nutrition service users in the proper use of both hardware and software at all school sites.Answer telephone; relay messages; file, update and type letters and assists with all general office duties; distribute mail and supplies.Assists with audit documentation and verification of data as needed.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Perform reasonably related duties as assigned.Participate in meetings, conferences and professional development as assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTS KNOWLEDGE OF: Methods and practices of financial record-keeping and accounting.School Nutrition Service program, its objectives and requirements.Office and accounting-related computer software and application programs.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.General office practices.Proper telephone courtesy and procedures. ABILITY TO: Prioritize various requests.Understand and carry out oral and written directions.

Capably operate computer and standard office equipment.Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using interpersonal skills that include tact, patience,and courtesy when interacting with others. Think critically, analyze and use sound judgment. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Previous clerical experience working with the public school system is preferred.Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Demonstrate and possess excellent analytical, critical thinking, and judgment skills. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This classification requires the use of a personal or District vehicle while conducting District business. Must possess a valid California driver's license and current automobile insurance, an acceptable driving record, and qualify for insurability with the District's insurance carrier WORKING CONDITIONS:ENVIRONMENT: Office environment.Driving a vehicle to conduct work.

Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person, and by telephone. Seeing to read a variety of materials and information on a computer.Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. HAZARDS: Exposure to cleaning chemicals, fumes, and hazardous materials.
