JOB TITLE: Nursing Scheduling Manager
SUMMARY: The Scheduling Manager will be responsible for managing the staffing functions for all nursing departments. Responsible to create schedules, process vacations, manage attendance/call-offs and fill vacant shifts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This summarizes the major essential duties and responsibilities regularly performed and normally assigned to this position. Listed below are the duties in descending order of importance and are as clear and specific as possible. Other duties may be assigned.
- Create and maintain schedules for all nursing departments.
- Ensure that staffing needs are met on a consistent basis by filling vacant shifts.
- Work with nursing staff to understand availability of all employees.
- Prior to orientation communicate with new hires to present training and regular schedule.
- Monitor labor targets in the nursing departments.
- Communicate attendance information in a timely manner.
- Communicate regularly with managers.
- Review time clock punch records against schedules and note appropriate changes.
- Report daily labor information to management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); at least one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in, written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficiency with Microsoft software (Word, Excel, etc.). Familiar with telephone equipment and other various office equipment.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent communication and phone skills. Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities. Ability to work calmly in a fast paced, quick changing, and demanding environment.
