Dignity Health Mercy San Juan Medical Center is a 370-bed not-for-profit Level 2 Trauma Center located in Carmichael California serving the areas of north Sacramento County and south Placer County for more than 50 years. Mercy San Juan’s Family Birth Place is the level 3 within the greater Sacramento Dignity Hospitals. Our Family Birth Center is Joint Commission Certified for Perinatal Care and Baby Friendly designated. FBC consists of a 12 bed labor unit 2 OR’s a 14 bed private postpartum unit a PACU and 2 triage bays. We average 160-180 deliveries a month and the department is supported by 7 Nurse Shift Managers a Perinatal Safety Nurse and a Perinatal Nurse Educator.

Position Summary:

Plans the overall nursing care and functions in a particular nursing unit during an assigned shift. Supervises nursing staff assigned to a particular shift. Assigns patients to available nursing staff taking into consideration the patients condition and the employees skill level. Anticipates staffing needs and moves proactively to respond to them. Oversees stocking of supplies and updating patient records to ensure that the nursing floor is ready for subsequent shifts.

Principal Duties and Accountabilities:

• Assesses monitors and educates the nursing staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary.
• Anticipates staffing needs and moves proactively to respond to them.
• Oversees stocking of supplies and updating patient records to ensure that the nursing floor is ready for subsequent shifts.

Minimum:

• Associates Degree in Nursing (e.g. ADN).
• Current CA RN license
• Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience (FBC) as a registered nurse.
• AHA BLS and NRP certificate
• Current Bachelors in Nursing (BSN) or related healthcare field
• Completion of Bachelors in Nursing (BSN) or related field within 3 years of hire

Preferred:

• Cesarean section experience preferred
