Essential Functions of the Role:
- The candidate must prepare, administer and measure radioactive isotopes in therapeutic, diagnostic, and tracer studies using a variety of radioisotope equipment, under the direction of a physician.
- Use the specific equipment needed to produce photographic or computer images to be interpreted by the physician.
- Perform cardiac scanning to check for areas showing signs of abnormality using SPECT and PET imaging.
- The duties of a PET/ Nuclear Technologist also include conducting patient history taking and answering all relevant queries before the procedure.
- Calculate, measure, and record radiation dosage or radiopharmaceuticals received. Perform quality control checks on laboratory equipment and cameras.
- Maintain and calibrate radioisotope and laboratory equipment. Dispose of radioactive materials following guidelines. Record and process studies using a computer/camera.
- Explain test procedures and safety precautions to the patients and provide them with assistance during the test procedures.
- Develop treatment procedures for nuclear medicine treatment program. Maintain all records and assist with accreditation of the department.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) and/or
- Nuclear Medicine Technology RT(N)
- Texas State License
- ARRT Registration or NMTCB required
Desired Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of experience in the Cardiology field
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Deadline and detail-oriented
- Strong leadership qualities
Work Environment
This position is a clinic position and will report to the office Monday- Friday from 6:30 am – 5:00 PM.
Physical Requirements
This position requires a full range of body motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds.
