Responsibilities
Demonstrates competency for neonate, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients. Performs diagnostic procedures in the field of Nuclear Medicine as assigned by a physician and administrative tasks. May have access to or be required to distribute drugs, needles or syringes from storage locations, (such as large stock supplies, automated dispensing units and other carts) to/within patient care areas or treatment carts as defined by hospital policy/procedure.
- Performs all patient care, diagnostic, therapeutic, and quality control procedures as authorized by license under the direction of the Nuclear Medicine physicians.
- Communicates effectively with patients, visitors, physicians, department and hospital staff demonstrating a high level of customer service and professionalism. Explains procedure and responds to questions and concerns prior to beginning of study. Keeps staff informed of workload progress, difficulties, conflicts, staffing needs and whereabouts.
- Provides technical support for clerks, peers, physicians and supervisor. Recognizes potential problems and initiates resolutions relating to exams, processing, image quality and equipment uptime
- Verifies physician's orders, clinical indications, correct radiopharmaceutical, correct dose activity, time of administration, required consent forms

- CT NMT
- Certificed Nuclear Med Tech
Knowledge of: -Anatomy and physiology (to include cross sectional when required) -Medical terminology relating to Nuclear Medicine -Principles of operation and care of Nuclear Medicine equipment -Currently accepted diagnostic and therapeutic Nuclear Medicine procedures -Radiation safety requirements and practices for the operator, patient and public -Film processing systems -Mechanical and electrical safety practices and requirements in the patient examination environment Ability to: -Perform general and specialized Nuclear Medicine procedures, which meet the department's standard of quality -Recognize and respond to allergic reactions and other life-threatening patient conditions which might arise during the examination process -Effectively and empathetically deal with agitated, ill and uncomfortable patients -Act courteously and with tact in dealing with patients, visitors and the public -Maintain patient confidentiality -Claim and reassure distressed patients -Develop and maintain a cooperative working relationship with physicians and hospital personnel -Work effectively under stress and adjust priorities as circumstances require -Organize work assignments, maintaining accurate and complete records -Maintain a high degree of accuracy regarding all details -Work independently on-call covering all normal clerical and technical functions -Assist co-workers and maintain constructive interpersonal relationships -Participate in continuing Nuclear Medicine
Pay Range
$65.14 - $70.64 /hour
