Research Assistant, OBGYN (if applicable)

Job Summary: The Generalist Research Assistant is responsible for keeping the research endeavors of the OBGYN department organized. They keep track of ongoing studies, organize and ensure that all researchers are in compliance with CITI trainings, update study spreadsheets and assist with IRB submissions and progress reports. The Generalist RA assists fellows in the department with their research and also is involved with various research projects within the department as needed. This is a role for someone who is very organized and likes to be involved with a variety of projects related to improving outcomes and experiences within the reproductive health field. This position is open for a full-time Research Assistant working on the Maternal and Fetal Medicine Unit supporting multiple studies related to preterm labor, preventing hemorrhage during C-sections, and pain control and opioid use post cesarean. This is a great opportunity to strengthen graduate school applications while gaining in-depth research experience in a clinical setting
What you will do:
- Under supervision, assist in identifying, recruiting and enrolling patients for clinical studies in Ob-Gyn.
- Obtain consent and specimens, administer exams and questionnaires, enter computer data into files, abstract charts, assist in preparation of materials for presentation and publication
- Be responsible and accountable for assessing, implementing and evaluating the delivery of subject/patient care while fulfilling the daily requirements of medical research protocols
- The position maintains a collaborative relationship with Investigators, inter-departmental staff and other research staff. Assist with a variety of research studies in the department as needed
- Facilitate IRB, Cyber Security and Data Governance submissions for Fellows and OBGYN Primary Investigators
What you will need:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Social Science or related field.
- Experience: Research Experience preferred
- Unique or Preferred Skills:
- CITI training completed beforehand or within first week on the job
- Phlebotomy skills or willingness to learn as part of the job a plus
- Experience with EPIC, preferred
- Comfort working with Excel, required
- Exceptional attention to detail and organization, required
- Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions: Exposure to blood, body fluids, hazardous materials and pharmacological agents with little likelihood of harm, if established health precautions are followed
- Equipment Utilized within the Scope of the Position: Work requires the use of a computer and electronic medical record (EPIC); use of scalpel and a centrifuge for collecting and processing samples
