Caterpillar’s Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. The E&APSD Battery Team has an exciting and impactful career opportunity for a New Product Introduction (NPI) Team Leader - Batteries. 

In this critical role, you will be responsible for creating, managing and executing project plans for New Product Introduction (NPI) battery programs in Caterpillar’s Electrification + Energy Solutions (E+ES) Division.  You will work within the NTI / NPI framework to deliver high visibility programs on-time and to specification by executing and improving the effectiveness of project plans to deliver projects that will position Caterpillar to sit at the forefront of the energy transition.

The successful incumbent with have deep understanding of project management tools as well as ability to facilitate programs, lead chartering sessions, develop critical paths, lead integration and compression sessions and mitigate project date risk.  Position reports into the Manager of Program Planning. 

What you will do:

  • Work with program team members to manage the project schedule, support program control meetings & compression sessions to meet project deliverables.   
  • Lead team meetings to address program level issues/action logs, risk registers, scope change requests/logs, program work plans, program cost tracking and provide workshop planning, execution and follow-up as needed.
  • Create accurate and detailed schedules including: 
    • Capturing all information, interpreting, and identifying relationships between activities
    • Analyzing data from schedule updates
    • Working with project team members to resolve logic errors, explaining changes due to updates, and recommending actions to resolve schedule problems.
    • Working with engineering, validation, customer support, purchasing, commercial team, L5 (application) team, manufacturing & supply chain to develop their detailed activities and schedule.
  • Work with team members to emphasize the importance of the program schedule to be successful in implementing on time, with in cost, and at the required quality targets. 

What you have:

  • Degree requirement: Bachelor’s Degree
  • Program Management: NPI/NTI project management experience within the battery / electrification space. Demonstrated knowledge of the policies and techniques to manage a set of related projects within a battery program. Ability to maintain project plan accuracy to meet project deliverables, creating dashboards for programs that detail project plan status, facilitate team meetings to maintain key milestone timelines an address project risk.
  • Products and Services: Experience utilizing engineering judgement to help team construct accurate and thorough project plans to achieve key milestones for battery projects. Ability to apply knowledge of products and services appropriately in diverse situations.
  • Planning: Demonstrated proficiency in project planning using Microsoft Project in support of the overall business plan
  • Effective communication: Proven ability to coordinate high performing, cross functional teams by effectively transmitting, receiving and accurately interpreting ideas, information and needs

  • Position may sit in Lafayette, IN, Mossville,, IL
  • Role is predominantly on-site but supports some remote work on a weekly basis
  • Approximately 10% to 20% travel
  • Domestic relocation is available for this position
  • Sponsorship is not available for this position
