NPD Cost Analyst...
The primary role of the NPD Cost Analyst will be to develop costing models for both new and existing fixture families at Prudential Lighting. The models will take as an input the specification sheet ordering matrix and will output cost break downs based on raw materials, labor, subassemblies, as well as pricing suggestions based on standard mark-ups by developing dynamic BOMS linked to the specific ordering matrix fields. To achieve these goals, the successful candidate must collaborate with multiple stakeholders including operations, purchasing, systems team, and the new product development staff at the facility to ensure that all current costing standards are met and that the bill of materials are as complete as possible. The candidate must be a strong Excel user.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collecting and analyzing purchasing data to determine the correct costing levels for a part or a subassembly of interest.
- Working with the operations team to complete time studies and collect efficiency information on the required labor for either subassemblies or final light fixtures.
- Collecting and analyzing costing and part data
- Developing Excel models that tie the ordering matrix to specific cost results.
- Monitoring costs after significant changes in products or processes and updating the models accordingly.
- Determine standard costing process and standards to be used throughout the business.
- Help management make important decisions based on costs and benefits (e.g. investments, market growth, pricing changes) by preparing detailed reports, both periodically and ad-hoc, to help guide pricing decisions for the business.
- Conduct audits and monitor changes in processes or methods to calculate cost effects.
- Estimate product costs for existing and new products and suggest cost-reducing strategies to increase the profitability of solutions.
Basic Qualifications
- Candidate must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder) and legally eligible to work in the United States
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Proven experience as a Cost Analyst, cost specialist or similar role...must be a very strong or certified Excel user.
- Experience in data, operational and financial analysis.
- Knowledge of accounting processes and software
- Strong analytical skills and business acumen
- Great attention to detail
- Excellent communication aptitude
- Relational skills for developing positive working relationships with all project stakeholders.
Highly Preferred Qualifications
- All criteria listed in the Basic Qualifications section plus...
- Experience in the accounting or finance field
- Any SysPro experience would be a huge benefit (SAP, Oracle, or other business management system equivalency would also be acceptable)
