Nonprofit Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nonprofit Consultant to guide our organization through the process of obtaining 501(c)(3) status and transitioning into a nonprofit entity. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the legal and administrative requirements associated with nonprofit status, as well as a proven track record of successfully assisting organizations in making this transition. This role requires a combination of legal expertise, strategic planning, and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities:

501(c)(3) Application Process:

• Conduct a thorough assessment of the organization's eligibility for 501(c)(3) status.
• Prepare and complete all necessary documentation for the IRS, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
• Provide guidance on any additional information or supporting documents required by the IRS.

Legal Compliance:

• Stay abreast of nonprofit laws and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
• Advise on governance structures, bylaws, and policies necessary for nonprofit organizations.
• Collaborate with legal professionals as needed to address specific legal challenges.

Strategic Planning:

• Work closely with organizational leadership to develop a strategic plan for the nonprofit transition.
• Provide recommendations on mission statements, goals, and programmatic initiatives that align with nonprofit standards.

Financial Planning:

• Assist in developing a financial plan that aligns with the organization's nonprofit goals.
• Guide the organization through the creation of a budget that meets the requirements for nonprofit financial transparency.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Communicate effectively with board members, staff, and other stakeholders to ensure understanding and commitment to the nonprofit transition.
• Provide training and support to staff members on nonprofit governance and compliance.

Documentation and Record Keeping:

• Establish and maintain accurate records of the nonprofit application process.
• Document key decisions, policies, and procedures to ensure a transparent and accountable organizational structure.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in successfully guiding organizations through the 501(c)(3) application process.
• Deep knowledge of nonprofit laws and regulations, including governance structures and compliance requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
• Familiarity with financial planning and budgeting for nonprofit organizations.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Law, Nonprofit Management, Business, etc.).
• Previous experience working as a consultant for nonprofit organizations.
• Legal background or certification in nonprofit law is a plus.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5 – 15 per week
