Job Overview:
As a NEMT Dispatcher, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing the transportation needs of individuals who require non-emergency Medical Transportation services. Your role involves efficient scheduling, communication with drivers and healthcare facilities, and ensuring patients' timely and safe arrival at their destinations.
Key Responsibilities:
Scheduling and Coordination: Receive transportation requests from healthcare facilities, patients, or their representatives. Schedule and coordinate transportation services based on the availability of vehicles and drivers. Ensure that scheduled appointments are properly organized and communicated to drivers.
Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with drivers to relay schedule updates, changes, or additional information. Communicate with healthcare facilities, patients, and their representatives to confirm appointments and address any concerns or special requirements.
Routing and Optimization: Plan efficient routes for drivers to minimize travel time and maximize the number of appointments serviced. Optimize transportation schedules to accommodate urgent or last-minute requests.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of scheduled appointments, cancellations, and any other relevant information. Ensure that all necessary paperwork, including trip logs and patient information, is completed accurately and promptly.
Problem Resolution: Address and resolve any issues that may arise during transportation, such as delays, route changes, or emergencies. Collaborate with drivers and other staff members to find solutions to logistical challenges.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous, preferably in the transportation or healthcare industry.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Familiarity with geographic locations and transportation routes.
Ability to handle stressful situations and make quick decisions.
Software and communication tools.
