Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
Provide regular required maintenance of NMR spectrometers and their respective hardware and software systems, and assist updates and repairs. Provide technical assistance to Facility Users, including graduate students and other researchers, on proper operation of spectrometers. Provide general support in the operations of the NMR Facility.
Benefits Summary
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Sciences or Engineering disciplines.
- Computer workstation and electronics experience
- Ability to read and understand schematic drawings and user manuals of the spectrometers
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Preferences:
- At least 2-4 years of experience operating analytical instruments
- Knowledge and skills of computer programming

Physical Demands
Requires the transport, and manipulation of compressed gas cylinders, dewars of liquid helium and nitrogen. Ability to lift 30 unassisted and up to 50 pounds of NMR spectrometers accessories with assistance. Requires moderate levels of physical dexterity to make adjustments or repairs on various components of the spectrometers. Exposure to strong but static magnetic fields.
