We have a fantastic opportunity for a News Reporter to join our Express Online Team, playing a vital role in our newsroom and concentrating on US content.

Reach Plc is the UK’s largest commercial news publisher. We’re home to more than 130 trusted brands, from national titles like the Mirror, Express, Daily Record and Daily Star, to local brands like MyLondon, BelfastLive and the Manchester Evening News.

Since the start of 2023, we have been building out our US operation, headquartered at 200 Liberty St, New York. We’ve launched three standalone brands in the Mirror US, Express US and the Irish Star, covering news, sport, entertainment, politics and lifestyle - all targeted at US audiences.

We’re now entering a period of rapid growth, and are looking to add ambitious and dynamic talent to our teams. You will identify, write and develop trending news stories, with great pictures and engaging video to drive traffic. You will deliver a fast turnaround on major news stories across the US and around the world and bring in exclusive stories that set us apart from our rivals. All while ensuring that every piece of content is researched and published in accordance with the Editor’s Code of practice.

Shift Patterns & Working Location

This is an office based role working from our New York office, we are therefore open to candidates based in or commutable to New York. Please note in order to be suitable for this role you must be eligible to work in the US.

Rotas are completed approximately 1-2 months in advance to help ensure a seamless working pattern and time to prepare. Shift patterns for this role are as follows:

• 7:00am - 3:00pm EST
• 10:00am - 6:00pm EST
• 3:00pm - 11:00pm EST

Typically, these shifts run on 1 week of early shifts followed by 1 week of late shifts.

1 weekend shift per month is also required, this can be either an early or late shift and will be decided with your line manager (you will also receive 2 days back in lieu).

Any shifts finishing after 9pm EST will have the flexibility to work remote.

We are looking for someone with passion for what they do and the drive to discover new stories that will resonate with and engage our audience. You will be an experienced reporter with in-depth knowledge of media law, you have a strong track record of delivering a wide range of engaging human interest and hard hitting news stories while understanding what works for a digital audience.

You have first rate editing, writing and subbing skills, relish the test of working under pressure and to tight deadlines, with a flexible attitude towards working hours. You’re social media savvy with current SEO knowledge and ideally you're familiar with newsroom analytics and content management systems. You’re flexible, inquisitive and are on the pulse of what makes a great story!
