SalaryABC Audio, a division of ABC News, is seeking a motivated, experienced entertainment and culture journalist in New York.
This person will be responsible for coordinating and producing daily news, celebrity interviews and special events content for ABC Audio’s affiliate radio stations and social media, with a focus on R&B/Hip-Hop, entertainment and cultural news.
The ideal candidate will have several years of journalism experience and proficiency in newswriting for digital media, audio and on-camera interviewing, and audio and video editing and production. They will also bring a robust list of music and entertainment contacts. We’re looking for someone who’s passionate, knowledgeable and engaged in pop culture and current events. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to step up to the national level and show what they can do.
This position works Monday through Friday and is based at ABC News' headquarters in New York City.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing, creating and coordinating ABC Audio’s coverage of R&B/Hip-Hop, entertainment and cultural news against daily deadlines.
- Researching and writing news stories for online publication.
- Pitching, scheduling and conducting interviews with celebrities and changemakers.
- Proactive planning of future events coverage.
- Editing audio and video content for packaging in short- and long-form products.
Basic Qualifications:
- Exceptional knowledge of R&B/Hip-Hop, entertainment and current events.
- Background in journalism and newswriting. Radio experience a plus. Robust list of industry contacts
- - publicists, managers, etc.
- Proficiency in digital audio and video recording and editing, e.g. Adobe Premiere, Adobe Audition, Adobe Photoshop, etc.
- Excellent time-management, organizational and planning skills with an impeccable attention to detail.
- A willingness to work collaboratively across the news division and take direction on all editorial decisions.
- Adherence to the highest standards of journalism.
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $71,500 to $98,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
