We are seeking a talented and creative News Editor/Page Designer (Thurs-Mon, 3:30pm – 11:30pm) to join our team. As such, you will play a crucial role in creating visually appealing layouts, designing and conceptualizing infographics and enhancing the overall look of our daily newspaper. The ideal candidate should possess a keen eye for detail, a strong sense of aesthetics, excellent news judgement, and the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- Page layout design: Create eye-catching and innovative layouts that captivate readers’ attention and enhance the overall reading experience.
Infographic design: Conceptualize, design and execute compelling infographics to visually represent information in an engaging manner.
Story Editing: Experience in editing stories to fit the layout and ensuring that the visual and textual elements complement each other seamlessly.
Deadline management: Work efficiently under deadlines, managing a large workload and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality designs.
Software proficiency: Proficient in using design software such as Methode, Photoshop and InDesign to create professional and polished layouts.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in newspaper (preferably tabloid) design.
Familiarity with Methode software a strong plus
Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
Adept at multitasking and managing a high volume of work.
Coordinate closely with News Editors, photo and graphics departments.
Experience in editing and headline writing is highly desirable.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, to accommodate publishing schedules.

Salary Range: $50,000 – $80,000
