Newborn/Infant/Toddler Merchandise Manager
Job Description
The Merchandise Manager ensures that company sales objectives are met by helping to increase apparel business and continually improve sell through of products.
Works with Design team to improve hit ratio of samples made to those purchased and coordinates with production department to have accurate and quick turn around on all tech packs for production.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Sets seasonal line direction for apparel lines after research and analyzing prior selling;
- Meets published goals set by President of Baby Division on an annual basis;
- Manages workload for team of designers and artists;
- Oversees designers following up on their sample recaps;
- Meets all calendar deadlines for sample requests for Market Weeks;
- Shops markets locally and internationally to spot emerging trends and purchase new silhouettes for development;
- Reviews all shopping and trend reports done by designers on a monthly basis;
- Grows business by introducing new products and concepts every season;
- Shows new lines at market and attend retailer meetings to best understand needs and requirements of the diverse retail groups we service;
- Develops PL programs and “Specials” for accounts;
- Works with Production on approving submits for each season and with Technical
Design teams to ensure proper fit and sizing for all hanging apparel;
- Analyzes retail selling reports to track retail performance for seasonal styles;
- Interacts with overseas offices to ensure that all procedures are in place for timely development of samples;
- Secures interns, where possible, to help with day-to-day project workload;
- Performs other tasks and projects assigned by the President – Baby Division
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Design or related field;
- Ten (10) years + experience in Infant/Toddler market;
- Proficient in Illustrator and Photoshop;
- Prior experience in managing a design team;
- Ability to travel;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $110,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
