The installation, troubleshooting, and repair of outside and inside plant network infrastructure cabling.
ResponsibilitiesInstalls, troubleshoots, maintains and repairs/splices network cabling for all communications networking to include but not limited to fiber optic cable, Cable Television (CATV and the other coaxial cable, building infrastructure Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP), Shielded Twisted Pair (STP), and Local Area Network (LAN) cabling. Coordinates with network management concerning cable plant and building wiring installations, repairs, changes, and design.
Reviews, interprets, and prepares worksheets, minor estimates, service orders, network diagrams, and blueprints describing the nature of voice, video, security and data communications systems to be installed and/or repaired. Provides detailed records of all work activity. Serves as an on-site work coordinator at the request of the Supervisor. Manages subcontractor support on Capital projects.
Performs other duties as required and moves heavy objects of 25 pounds or more. A State vehicle, golf cart, utility vehicle, or all-terrain vehicle will be used to reach site premises. A valid driver's license will be needed in order to operate a vehicle. Performs duties in compliance with ITS policies, guidelines, and processes pertaining to support requests, work orders, project management, change management, and incident management. Appropriately utilizes associated tools in accordance with ITS standards. May be required to work overtime due to increased workload.
Limited programming and installation of Internet Protocol (IP) based equipment such as: cameras, security devices, switches, wireless access points, and other network equipment.
QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalency and three years' experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to three years.
A valid Florida or Georgia driver's license or the ability to obtain one.
This position requires moving heavy objects of 25 pounds or more.
Preferred QualificationsHaving experience in basic installation practices of structured network cabling. Working on construction sites and using common power tools.
