Job Description
Configure, Install, Service and Maintain all last mile and customer premise equipment necessary for the delivery of Commercial Metro Ethernet, Metro Transport, PRI and POTS lines. This includes all equipment; both active and passive, between the core network and customer demark.
Essential Job Functions:
Test and validate all new circuits, hardware and connections for proper configuration and performance.
Trouble shoot commercial circuits at the direction of CNOC or Network engineers to resolve issues such as but not limited to Low levels, loss of signal, High BER, Packet Loss, Mis-Balanced DWDM systems (non-ROADM), FDV and latency issues.
At the direction of NOC, Design Engineers, or Network Engineers, trouble shoot commercial circuits using any of the following test equipment as required –
OTDR (must be able to read and convey readings to construction or NOC)
Optical power meter
Knowledge and experience with DC Power
Ethernet Test Set (layer 2 & 3; JDSU, EXFO)
Provision at the shelf level using Craft Interfaces.
Provision MetroNID and EtherNIDs at the direction of Network Design or Network Engineering.
Ensure all fibers, cables and other connections are properly tagged and identified and that these connections have the proper physical support such as fiber duct, spiral wrap and strand relief supports.
Ensure all equipment is mounted in such a way as to ensure network reliability.
Assist with the installation, service and maintenance of core switches, routers, SONET transport, DWDM and other related equipment as necessary and directed.
Ability to respond to afterhours call-out for service restoration, troubleshooting, network testing and repair of all last mile and customer premise equipment necessary for the delivery of Metro Ethernet, Metro Transport, PRI, and POTS lines. Ensure the Customer Support Team is kept up to date on the progress of all repair and upgrade activities. Also assist Network Engineers in troubleshooting, testing and repair of all core switches, routers, SONET Transport, DWDM and other related equipment as necessary and directed.
Maintain all spare stock for all last mile and customer premise equipment necessary for the delivery of Commercial Metro Ethernet, Metro Transport; PRI and POTS
Maintain proficiency in trouble shooting techniques and the use of test equipment such as optical power meters, OTDRs, Optical Spectrum Analyzers, Ethernet Sniffer and Ethernet, SONET, T1 and DS3 test equipment.
Job Requirements:
Associates Degree in computer networking or telecommunications infrastructure is preferred but not required. Real world experience in network troubleshooting and customer relations is also preferred. Real world experience in Telco POTS delivery and wiring is preferred. High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent required.
Valid State Driver’s license w/ excellent driving record.
No criminal record with felony convictions.

Solid understanding of the following:
Basic knowledge of telco standards is required, cable counts, creating fittings, terminating cable and running cable is preferred.
Experienced and knowledgeable in network troubleshooting techniques.
Job Types: Contract, Full-time
Pay: $64,000.00 & up per year
