Pomeroy is hiring for a 6 month contract to hire Network Engineer role. This position will start as hybrid model and will transition to remote once team is settled. Must be local and willing to commute to Louisville, KY.
Position Goal: This position is responsible for day-to-day operations, monitoring, and support of the enterprise and all networks. Also responsible for Tier 1/2 networking support to campus IT operations. These responsibilities will require the candidate to be a Subject Matter Expert across network technologies, services, and additional related components. This position will interact daily with technology departments, construction, customer support, vendors, IT administration and security personnel, on developing network solutions to meet Galen business requirements.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Implement standards for new campus designs and equipment builds
2. Work with construction on build out of new locations ensuring implementations are on time and meet standards. Network monitoring, impact analysis, modeling, network capacity planning
3. Engineering consultations of Level I & II network troubleshooting/problem resolutions, protocol analysis, network troubleshooting/problem determination skills with network trace/capture/analysis software
4. Understanding of end-to-end data flows and traffic patterns.
5. Software/hardware device upgrades, LAN equipment configurations/provisioning
6. Creation of network standards procedural documentation and enterprise level network diagramming
7. IP addressing, variable length subnet masking, and Quality of Service
8. Wide Area Network technology provisioning and configuration (i.e. MPLS, SDWAN, SIP) and WAN equipment configurations for bandwidth rates from DSL to OC9.
9. Networking services for ACS, AAA, DHCP, DNS, ICMP and SNMP
10. Design and Support for network security technologies and products
11. Remote access technologies (i.e. VPN, SSL-VPN, IPSec, B2B)
12. Training/Mentoring other IT&S staff members
13. Problem management skills
14. Change management and project management principles
15. Occasional travel to support network construction, analysis, and network upgrades
Position Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in computing or information technology (networking emphasis or
concentration) or equivalent combination of IT education, training, and experience. Cisco CCNP and Microsoft certification(s) a plus.
Experience: Minimum two years of experience administering network infrastructure and services
Special Qualifications: All aspects of Cisco equipment and the Cisco; Microsoft Office, Visio or LucidCharts, and MS Project; Good prioritization and risk management skills
Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment: Work flexible hours if projects and IT issues demand
