Network Engineer

Network Engineer needed for a client in Louisville, KY for a contract position. 
SUMMARY
The Network Engineer is responsible for design, implementation, maintenance, troubleshooting, monitoring and reporting of the enterprise network infrastructure of the client and its related properties. They will also support the network needs of the company's production Data Centers and support the 24x7 nature of the business through a rotation-based on-call assignment.
 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 

• Ensure the successful and continued operation of the company's network infrastructure
• Provide leadership and escalations for change and incident bridges
• Investigate network issues and bring to resolution within stated SLA parameters
• Provide Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to operations team and customers upon request
• Provide technical leadership (both verbal and written) for Incident and Change
• Participate in on-call rotation for incident management and escalation
• Troubleshoot, maintain and repair network problems according to Service Level Agreements
• Monitor and report on the network infrastructure operation on a regular basis
• Firewall planning, maintenance and reporting
• Plan and execute changes to the network infrastructure
• Network Equipment Inventory Management.
• Maintain an extensive IP Telephony network
• Wireless LAN configuration and maintenance
• Gather and compile documentation and drawings as required
• Update and maintain network management application databases and CMDB tools.
• Proactively address business process issues regarding networks through network architecture design, development and implementation as well as business process re-engineering
• Ensure that all organization activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing business operations.

• 4 year degree in IT/IS or other closely related discipline; may consider experience and certifications for degree requirement.
• Valid and current Cisco CCNA Certification
• Minimum 5 years of experience implementing / managing WAN circuits.
• Minimum 5 years of experience using network analysis, management and performance monitoring tools to plan for growth, diagnose problems and determine source.
• Minimum 5 years of experience managing comprehensive projects in complex networking environment.
• Minimum 5 years of experience implementing VLAN technology in an enterprise environment.
• Position located in Louisville, KY with occasional reporting to various other sites in the Louisville, KY area.
• Minimal travel at times to remote sites.
• Ability to work certain night/weekend shifts on an as-needed basis for major infrastructure changes.
• Ability to work several marquee events.
• Unrestricted Authorization to work in the United States.

• CCNP Preferred (CCNA Required)
• ITIL Foundations Certified
• Six Sigma Green Belt Certified
• Three or more recent years of experience configuring, monitoring and managing Cisco WAN/LAN switching & routing products and Palo Alto Firewalls
• Strong knowledge of routing and switching, including BGP and OSPF
• Strong communications and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of Windows and Linux-based platforms desirable
• Knowledge of VMware and virtualization technologies desirable
