Job Title: Network and Systems Administrator
Reports to: Director and/or Designee
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Objective:
- Design, install, and maintain Network and Systems components that meet Connect and customer requirements.
- Provide technical support, recommend equipment upgrades, and administer software and system applications.
- High school diploma. An Associate degree in a computer technology ?eld is desired.
- Two years of experience in Data Communication Networking, TCP/IP, routing, local area networks, VoIP phone systems, wireless/WLAN maintenance, and troubleshooting workstation software/hardware.
- Valid CCENT (Cisco Certi?ed Networking Technician) or CCNA (Cisco Certi?ed Network Associate) desired.
- Pro?ciency in systems planning, hardware and software management, project management, and Microsoft O?ce software.
- Experience with Help Desk System utilization is desired.
- Strong problem-solving skills, self-starter, and ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Availability to be "on-call" for periodic tasks outside of normal working hours.
- Technical quali?cations may be modi?ed to address current or emerging program/sta?ng needs and assignments. Certi?cation, training, and experience deemed appropriate may include:
- Networking: TCP/IP, routing, switching, VoIP, WLAN
- Server Operating Systems: Linux, Windows
- Workstation Operating Systems: MAC OS, Windows
- Web Servers: IIS, Apache, Tomcat, OSU
- Storage Systems:Storage Area Networks
- DNS: Windows, Linux
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, install, and maintain Network and Systems components.
- Provide technical support to staff and students.
- Recommend equipment upgrades and enhancements to improve Network and Systems performance.
- Administer software and system applications.
- Ensure data security and con?dentiality.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues.
- Coordinate procurement of hardware and software.
- Provide training and support to school personnel and students.
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers.
- Maintain accurate equipment inventory and network diagrams.
- Assist with ongoing projects, research, and recommend enhancements.
- Install and maintain WAN/LAN and Systems.
- Design options to improve or upgrade school networks and Systems.
- E?cient time management and task prioritization.
- Professionalism, contributing to a positive work environment.
- Effective communication skills (listening, observation, reading, verbal, nonverbal, and writing).
- Punctuality and an acceptable attendance record.
- Adaptability to interruptions and changing conditions.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical manuals and documentation.
Working Conditions (in a K-12 School Environment):
- Exposure to standard K-12 school conditions, including classrooms, o?ces, and outdoor areas.
- Interaction with students, staff, and faculty members.
- Use of a computer keyboard and monitor for prolonged periods.
- Participation in school events and activities needed.
- Potential exposure to learning and educational environments.
