Job description

The Network Administrator is responsible for providing network security for Southwestern Vermont Health Care (SVHC), including but not limited to:

1. Performs daily review of IS Project Portal and Ticket Queues to establish outstanding projects and tasks assigned.

2. Prioritizes assigned projects and tasks for day’s work in accordance with department policies and procedures.

3. Troubleshoots network performance issues and creates and maintains a disaster recovery plan. Recommends upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment

4. Maintains inventory of equipment and parts, configurations, as well as documentation

5. Develops and documents system standards for computer and network devices

6. Sets up, configures, and supports internal and/or external networks. Develops and maintains all systems, applications, security, and network configurations.

7. Configures and manages Web Filtering, Firewalls, and Antivirus solutions

8. Provides technical support and guidance to users and other IS staff.

9. Works collaboratively with the IS team to support the integrity and dependability of systems and network which includes working on issues outside of normal business hours.

10. Actively stays up-to-date on emerging technologies and researches and recommends solutions to supervisor

11. Continuously seeks opportunities for improving productivity, safety and efficiency, including but not limited to, advancements in technology, process improvements, work-flow improvements, equipment advancements, feedback received through customer input, etc.

12. Establishes network specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing router administration, including interface configuration and routing protocols.

13. Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor.

14. Secures network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; maintaining documentation.

15. Upgrades network by conferring with vendors; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements..

16. Actively pursues and attends a variety of educational and training programs to advance own professional development

17. Performs other related duties as assigned.


Requirements and Preferences for position eligibility:

An Associates Degree in computer science or equivalent work experience is required.    Five (5) years of network and security administration support experience in a mid-sized corporate environment is required.  Prior experience with Cisco Systems is required. 

CCNA/CCNP preferred, must have at least CCNA level skill set;

CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Administrator) within 2 years of employment required;

Ability to serve in an on-call rotation is required, with ability to work nights, weekends and holidays to support 24x7 hospital is required;

Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to effectively direct team members to ensure consistent adherence to regulations, controls and policies;

Troubleshoot and solve complex issues;

Hands on Networking experience (Cisco preferred), with TCP/IP/BGP, IGRP/EIGRP, STP, VRRP, HSRP, NAT, QOS, SNMP, VoIP, VLANs

Hands on experience in network secuirty including Firewalls, IPSec, VPN and Device Hardening;

Cisco Nexus Configuration and Deployment;

Cisco ISE Configuration and Deployment;;

Cisco Firepower Support and Configuration;

Cisco VPN Support & Configuration including site to site VPN & AnyConnect Remote Access

DCisco 9800 Wireless Controller Support and Configuration

ORDR Configuration and Support is a plus;

Experience with VMWare, NetApp, Microsoft Server support is a plus;

Citrix, Microsoft (AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO, Exchange) is a plus;

NetApp Storage Support and configuration is a plus;

Knowledge of Microsoft OS and Office Suite software programs required;

Ability to successfully pass annual technology competency assessment testing required.  

Valid state driver's license required.

Upon conditional offer of employment, you must be able to successfully pass Motor Vehicle Record Check in accordance with SVHC insurance requirements.
